Exon junction complex (EJC) plays an important role in not only pre-mRNA splicing but also post-splicing events such as nuclear export, nonsense-mediated decay and translation of mRNA. RBM8A, also known as Y14, is an EJC component that forms a core heterodimer of EJC by binding to MAGOH. It is also reported that RBM8A-MAGOH heterodimer is involved in cell cycle progression in tumor cells.
