Background | Product description: Mannose-binding protein C belongs to the collectin family and is an important element in the innate immune system. The protein recognizes mannose and N-acetylglucosamine on many microorganisms, and is capable of activating the classical complement pathway. Deficiencies of mannose-binding protein C have been associated with susceptibility to autoimmune and infectious diseases. Residues 21-248 of human mannose-binding protein C were cloned, the protein was over-expressed in HEK293EBNA1 cells and purified to homogeneity. The calculated molecular weight of recombinant human mannose-binding protein C, residues 21-248, is 27.0 kDa. It contains an N-terminal hexahistidine tag and a TEV cleavage site.
