　PAP1 (pancreatitis associated protein 1) は急性膵炎時に膵臓によって過剰発現される膜タンパク質です1)。膵炎マーカーとしてはアミラーゼやリパーゼ、トリプシンがよく利用されますが、これら成分の血中上昇は一過性であるため、予後診断には向いていません。一方、PAP1の血中濃度は膵炎の重症度に相関して変化しますので、PAP1は膵炎の予後マーカーとして利用できます2)。
　またPAP1は消化器系組織の癌との関連が知られています。膵臓がんを始め、大腸がんや肝臓がん患者の血清中のPAP1濃度が健常人に比べて有意に高いことが報告されています3), 4)。MBLのPAP1-ELISAキットは大腸がん細胞株のOUMS-23の培養上清中の抗原を捉えます。
