Background DDX39B, a member of DExD/H-box family proteins, has been identified as a 56 kDa U2AF65-associated protein (UAP56). DDX39B (UAP56) possesses both an ATPase and an RNA helicase activities required for spliceosome assembly in pre-mRNA splicing. DDX39B (UAP56) is also involved in nuclear export of cellular and viral RNAs as a component of TREX complex.
