Background DCP1B is one of the components of cytoplasmic RNA decay machinery, called “exosome”. DCP1B is a homologue of human mRNA decapping enzyme DPC1A involved in 5'-3' mRNA decay.  DCP1A and DCP1B share 68% homology in their N-termini containing conserved region and 31% homology in their entire lengths. DCP1B is localized in P-body as well as DPC1A, however, its function for mRNA decay is still unclear.
