Background CPM (carboxypeptidase M) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored membrane glycoprotein. CPM belongs to the family of carboxypeptidases, and specifically removes C-terminal basic residues (Arg or Lys) from peptides and proteins. It plays a role in controlling peptide hormone and growth factor activity and extracellular protein degradation. CPM is associated with well-differentiated liposarcoma and is a marker for the maturation of monocytes to macrophages and for iPS cell-derived liver progenitor cells.
