MBD1 belongs to the family of MBD (methyl-CpG binding domain)-containing proteins and binds to methylated CpG DNA through its N-terminus MBD. Efficiency to enrich methylated DNA fragments is higher than other methods such as antibody-based enrichment methods or other MBD protein- based methods.
Enrichment bias is lower than one that might be observed in other MBD protein- based methods.
